Ethical business is the only way to do business.

As the world braces itself for what could possibly be the worst global crisis in history there has never been a better time for us all to believe in the importance of the role of ethical business and social entrepreneurs to rebuild a stable economy with ethical values and practices. In the long term view ethical business will prepare the world for future generations.

Amidst a recession it seems that the small ethical  businesses have managed somehow to stay afloat by using most of their own savings and not turning to the banks to prop up their business with loans. This is a very admirable approach to short term survival yet in the medium term it could be to the detriment of the business if there really isn't any private funds to fall back on. Ethical business that took this approach to survival will need every help that they can get  to ride through this and so it's up to us all to support them.  And that means that you /we as consumers need to seek them out and use and promote their services them in any way that we can.

It doesn't matter that we may not need their services at at any given time but if we can just start bookmarking or making diary notes about them so that we can mention them to friends and acquaintances, it will go a long way in helping them with their much needed marketing which itself can swallow up large amounts of money or time and energy that could best be spent on doing what the business does best. And what they do best is love the people are helping, love the idea that they are making a real difference in the world, and love to be in an ethical business setting an example for future generations.

Unethical business hurts people and our planet. Ethical business have ethical practices and policies in place to protect everybody. Ethical business will survive because they have to.  We can no longer carry on using the services or products of unethical business. Just walk on by. There are no more excuses.
 You can make a difference by connecting with ethical business and making them your friend and your ally. And you can tell everybody them. It's true what they say... "you are or you become like the people that you associate with"

If there is an ethical business retail outlet near to you why not make an effort and pick up a couple of friends and go together to visit them.  If your organic farm is a short trip away.. take your friends with you and make it an afternoon out. You will love it. Beats the supermarkets hands down and you won't be overwhelmed with products and sales pitches to get you to buy something that you don't really need and are sourced unethically. After a visit to an ethical outlet you will put your feet up in the evening knowing that you have played your part in making a difference.
